Asia Cup 2023 will start from 30 August with with first match being played between Pakistan and Nepal at Multan Cricket stadium. The previous 50 overs Asia Cup was played in 2017 in which India won its 7th prestigious title.

Pakistan has a rich cricketing history and has been a force to reckon with in Asia Cup. They have won the Asia Cup on two occasions, in 2000 and 2012, and will be determined to add another title to their name in 2023.

The 2012 Asia Cup winning squad of Pakistan team was led by Misbah ul haq. The current squad is entirely news filled with youngsters, with no previous player featuring in this squad. For this year’s competition, the team has a blend of experienced players and promising young talents, making them a formidable side.

Batting Line-up

Pakistan’s batting line-up boasts some exceptional talent. At the top of the order, Pakistan has Fakhar Zaman who showed incredible form against New Zealand in 5 matches ODI series. They have Babar Azam, who is currently one of the best batsmen in the world across all formats. Babar’s elegant stroke play and consistency make him a vital cog in Pakistan’s batting unit. Alongside him, Imam-ul-Haq has shown great promise as an opener and will be looking to make his mark in the tournament.

In the middle order, Pakistan has talented campaigners like Mohammad Rizwan and Salman Ali Agha. Both players bring a wealth of skillset and can stabilize the innings when needed. Additionally, young talents like Mohammad Harisand Abdullah Shafique have shown immense potential and could provide firepower in the middle overs.

Bowling Attack

The team has some exceptional fielders like Babar Azam, who is agile and athletic in the outfield. Shaheen Afridi’s height and athleticism make him a potent force in the field as well.

However, Pakistan’s best fielder is Shadab Khan who has lighting fast reflexes. They have improved a lot in recent years so we will definitely see a core competitive Pakistan team in Asia Cup 2023. The captaincy role for Pakistan in the Asia Cup 2023 is likely to be entrusted to Babar Azam. Babar has shown great leadership qualities and has already captained Pakistan in limited-overs cricket.
