G2 Esports defeated Vitality in the IEM Dallas 2024 Finals and became the 100th Counter-Strike Champion. After a tough battle on the third map, the team finally overcame their opponents. Stewie2K, Niko and huNter played vital roles for the team. On the other hand, m0nesy’s AWPing and incredible gameplay by Nexa helped G2 secure several rounds.
The match held on June 2 between G2 Esports and Vitality spanned all three maps. The performance was remarkable as the game went to overtime in the second map, Anubis. Things looked to be slipping from G2’s hands, but they survived before going into Nuke.
The second map went into overtime
G2 Esports won their first Counter-Strike 2 trophy at IEM Dallas, which was a great feeling for them and their fans. While they displayed stunning performances on the first map, Inferno, and on the second map, Anubis, they were totally dominated. ZywOo, Spinx and mezii gave brilliant performances to shut down G2 with their strategic timing and firepower on the second map.
The map went into overtime and at a few moments, it looked like G2 could win it. However, it was Vitality who came out on top at the end of the second map and ensured the match went to Map 3.
Final round saw an incredible performance by G2
On Map 3, Nuke, the match wasn’t as close as on Anubis. The third map ended with a 13-8 scoreline in favor of G2. However, Vitality members apEX, ZywOo and mezii did give a tough battle to the European team. Gratefully, NiKo, Stewie2K and hunter stood like a shield for G2 whenever the team was in a tough situation. NiKo put up a great defense strategy that was almost unbreakable for Vitality, who tried to secure the site. The final round ended with an incredible victory for G2 Esports. Stewie2, who just returned after a long hiatus, managed to take two frags in the final round and contributed to the team, eventually shutting down Vitality’s attack.
