Ellyse Perry Makes WPL History with Record Figures, Leads RCB to Victory
Australian all-rounder Ellyse Perry once again proved why she is one of the best women’s cricketer in the world. Playing for Royal Challengers Banglore, she registered her name in Women’s Premier League (WPL) history on Tuesday, becoming the first bowler to claim a six-wicket haul in the young tournament.
The 33-year-old unleashed a devastating spell against Mumbai Indians, registering career-best T20 figures of 6-15. Her exceptional bowling propelled Royal Challengers Bangalore to a comfortable seven-wicket victory.
Mumbai started promisingly at 65-1 before Perry wreaked havoc on their batting order. She dismissed six consecutive batters – a combination of bowled, LBW, and a sensational diving catch – to dismantle the middle and lower order.
Her victims included high-profile names like Indian skipper Harmanpreet Kaur, English star Nat Sciver-Brunt, and New Zealand’s Amelia Kerr. This was much needed victory for RCB after they had to lose their previous match to Delhi Capitals by 1 run.

Perry’s brilliance with the ball wasn’t enough. Displaying her all-round prowess, she followed up with a crucial unbeaten knock of 40 runs off 38 deliveries (5 fours, 1 six) to ensure a convincing win for RCB with five overs to spare.
Mumbai Indians could have scored more runs but when an inform Ellyse Perry is against you, the problems get bigger and bigger. That’s exactly what happened with Mumbai as they lost their plot after having a decent start of their innings.
Earlier in a different match, Perry broke the news when she shattered a car window with a beautiful slog over mid-wicket against UP Warriorz. Whenever Challengers have found themselves in trouble, Perry has stood up and did the required job.
This performance adds another feather to Perry’s already illustrious cap. She becomes the only cricketer in history, male or female, to achieve the remarkable feat of taking a six-wicket haul and scoring a century in all three formats of the game (Test,ODI, T20).
