Ellyse Perry Powers RCB to Victory, Shatters Car Window in WPL Match
Not many women’s cricket players are loved in India as much as Ellyse Perry of RCB. She has a massive fan following and everything she does on field is surely cherished and enjoyed by fans.
This time around Ellyse Perry smashed a half-century and shattered a sponsor car’s window as Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) secured a 23-run victory over UP Warriorz in the Women’s Premier League on Monday.
Perry’s 58-run knock off just 37 deliveries included four boundaries and four sixes, one of which took an unfortunate turn and went through the back window of a Tata Punch EV on display behind the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium boundary.
“I was a bit worried,” Perry joked after the match. “I’m not sure I have insurance over here to cover me. So in a bit of strife there.”

Openers Smriti Mandhana (80 runs) and Sabbhineni Meghana (28 runs) got RCB off to a flying start with a 57-run partnership before Perry took center stage.
“It is the best atmosphere I have consistently played in front of in my entire career,” Perry said. “I had a great chance to get myself in with Smriti at the other end, and then it was nice at the end to release a few.”
RCB capped off their home-leg in style, securing a convincing 23-run victory over UP Warriorz. Batting first, RCB posted a commanding 198 runs on the board, thanks to some brilliant batting.
In reply, UPW showed good fight, keeping up with the required run rate for most of their chase. However, a middle-order collapse proved costly, as they fell short despite Alyssa Healy’s well-made 55.
Deepti Sharma and Poonam Khemnar tried their best, but the target proved too much as RCB wrapped up the win comfortably. The RCB players celebrated with their home crowd, acknowledging their unwavering support throughout the match.
The win puts RCB at the top of the WPL table alongside Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals, all with six points. RCB have played one extra match compared to the other two teams.
