Beterbiev vs Smith: Callum Smith, an unbeaten Canadian light heavyweight, was scheduled to fight Artur Beterbiev later this month but was forced to postpone due to dental surgery; the fight for the IBF, WBC, and WBA belts will now take place on January 13 in Quebec City.
The fight for the world championship of Beterbiev vs Smith has been postponed until early in the following year.
Having fought Smith’s fellow Brit Anthony Yarde at Wembley Arena in March to defend his IBF, WBC, and WBC belts, Beterbiev was scheduled to meet Smith on Sunday, August 20. But the Canadian light heavyweight had to pull out of the match because he required dental work. Since then, the two have set a new date for their confrontation: January 13, 2024, in Quebec City.

“In front of the amazing Quebec City crowd, Artur Beterbiev will get the chance to defend his titles,” stated Bob Arum, head of the promoter Top Rank. “Though it’s a few months later than anticipated, I’m excited that Artur Beterbiev will get the chance.”
“Artur has received a clean bill of health, and I am confident that Callum, a former champion with exceptional talent, will be at his best on January 13.”
Beterbiev has amassed an undefeated 19-0 record since becoming pro in 2013, and all of his victories have come through knockout, making him the only active world champion in boxing with a perfect stoppage record. He won his most recent match against Yarde in the eighth of the twelve planned rounds, ensuring that he continued to rule the light-heavyweight class.
After losing by a majority decision, Smith moved up to light-heavyweight and challenged Canelo Alvarez to a rematch in December 2020.
With victories over Gilbert Castillo Rivera and Mathieu Bauderlique in his two fights thus far at the 175-pound limit, the former WBA and Ring magazine super-middleweight champion is now pursuing a dual world championship.
According to Camille Estephan, president of promoter Eye of the Tiger, “I’m very happy that the camps came to an agreement quickly, so we can go ahead with this light heavyweight championship super fight.”
