WWE’s King and Queen of the Ring Tournaments will conclude on May 25 in Saudi Arabia. The tournaments have already started, with the wrestlers moving forward, but this year they are facing some difficulties. Despite only starting a week ago, at least four Superstars have already been removed from the tournament due to injuries, the latest one of them is Zelina Vega, who was scheduled to begin her journey at a live event over the weekend.
Vega was replaced
Vega was set to defend her Queen’s Crown title in a first-round match against Shayna Baszler on Sunday. This did not happen, as Adam Pearce revealed on social media hours before the match was set to happen that the “Divina Fly Queen” would not be able to compete due to injury. Vega was replaced by Maxine Dupree, who was unsuccessful in defeating Shayna Baszler. The Queen of Spades will now face Iyo Skyo in the quarter-finals.
Vega has already responded to being ruled out of the tournament due to injury. Vega says this is especially heartbreaking for her because she was the winner of the first Queen of the Ring tournament under its original name, the Queen’s Crown Tournament. This year, WWE fans will see a new winner, as Vega is now unable to defend her crown. Vega signed her post with a supportive message for Dupree, but that did not prove enough to defeat Baszler and advance to the final eight.
Superstars have been ruled out of the men’s tournament as well
Two divas were ruled out of the Queen of the Ring due to injuries, and two superstars have also been ruled out of the men’s tournament. Asuka was also scheduled to compete in the round but was replaced by her stablemate, Dakota Kai. The “Ramen Woman” has been praised for enduring so long despite reportedly battling the injury for some time. In King of the Ring, Drew McIntyre needed to be replaced by Jey Uso and Angelo Dawkins stepped in for his injured partner, Bobby Lashley.

It’s no surprise that injuries are occurring now in the WrestleMania season. It’s the time of year when WWE Superstars push themselves harder than any other time, but it’s also the time when any serious injuries are ignored if possible so that those who are needed in the biggest event are available. Now that WrestleMania is over, those injuries are either being addressed or getting worse. It is really upsetting that so many King and Queen of the Ring contestants have been ruled out in just seven days.
