Two of the best middle-order hitters India has ever seen, Yuvraj Singh and MS Dhoni, have performed incredibly well for the national team throughout the years, winning some of the biggest trophies. Now that they are retired, both cricket players are content with their personal lives away from the pitch. However, several misconceptions about their interpersonal dynamics and relationships continue. About his relationship with MS Dhoni off the field, Yuvraj had the chance to be “politically correct,” and he didn’t think twice about implying that the two aren’t close friends. Yuvraj Singh Makes Honest Admission About Dhoni Friendship
In a conversation on TRS Clips, Yuvraj acknowledged that he and Dhoni were buddies because they both played cricket for India. Apart from that, they didn’t click because of how different their personal lives were.
Yuvi stated, “Mahi and I are not very close. Because we played cricket together, we became buddies. Since Mahi lived a different lifestyle from mine, our friendship was based solely on our shared love of cricket. Mahi and I gave our nation more than our all when we arrived on the ground. I was vice-captain, and he was captain in that. I joined the team four years after I was a junior. There will be disparities in decision-making when you are the captain and vice-captain.”
“I didn’t always like the decisions I made, and he didn’t always like the ones I made. It takes place on every team. I sought his assistance when my career was coming to an end and I wasn’t receiving the correct picture of it. It was he who informed me that you are not currently being considered by the selection committee. At least I now knew the whole story, I thought to myself. This is right before the World Cup in 2019. That is the truth,” he declared.
Yuvraj went on to emphasize that teammates on a sports team don’t need to be best friends; they simply need to give it their all on the field.

He said, “You don’t have to be great friends with your teammates off the field. Each person has a unique skill set and way of life. It’s not necessary to be best friends with everyone to play on the field; some people prefer to hang out with other people. Eleven people in any squad will not get along. While some don’t, some do. Put your ego aside and participate on the field when you’re at the park.”
“I served as MS’s runner during times when he was hurt. When he was in his 90s, I seem to recall wanting to give him the strike to help him get to 100. In his nineties, I can still clearly recall diving for him on his second run. I was 48 against the Netherlands when I batted in a World Cup match. Mahi stopped both of the balls when there were two runs to be made, allowing me to score fifty,” he said.

Yuvraj cited the 2011 World Cup final as another illustration of the professional rapport he and Dhoni have.
Yuvi said, “In the 2011 World Cup final, it was agreed that if Gauti (Gautam Gambhir) is eliminated, I will go, and if Virat is eliminated, Dhoni will go. Friendship is not as significant as that stuff. We were professionals to the core. I hope the best for him, and I know the same for me.”
“Both he and I have retired. We don’t meet like ‘I don’t want to get to know you,’ but rather as friends. Together, we also shot an advertisement and enjoyed reminiscing about our earlier days,” the former Indian batter stated.
