Dominik Mysterio backstabbed his Mami Rhea Ripley at SummerSlam 2024 and ended their onscreen love relationship. Recently, Dirty Dom opened up about betraying Ripley during a chat with Peter Rosenberg. Dominik appeared on the Cheap Heat podcast, where he discussed breaking Ripley’s heart and also commented on her emotional reaction at the Biggest Party of the Summer.
“A lot of people saw the emotion that she had at SummerSlam after everything happened. I see you naturally laughing. So, it actually brought you joy to see her in pain. I wouldn’t say it brought me joy but it was more like, ‘you get what you deserve kinda thing’,” said Mysterio.
The storyline between Rhea and Dom was one of the most popular
Dominik also recalled the unusual beginning of his relationship with Ripley on Monday Night Raw. He explained that the relationship began when Rhea choked him out in the ring, attacked him and then lifted him onto her shoulders while his face was injured from the attack. Dominik then decided to join the Judgement Day, eventually embracing the heel turn. While the relationship was working, “Dirty Dom” mentioned Ripley’s brutal behavior after he lost the NXT North American Championship. After losing the title, when Dominik got another title opportunity, Mami gave a bold warning to him that he better come home with that title or don’t come home at all. Dominik stated that Liv Morgan will never make such demands from him.
The on-screen love relationship between Dom and Rhea was one of the most interesting and popular storylines in WWE programming. Unlike most on-screen couples, Rhea was dominant and guided her “Dom Dom” through various situations. Everything was going well for Ripley until Liv Morgan injured her and then began hitting on Dominik. On one of the episodes of Raw, Liv shocked the entire audience by kissing Dominik.
Rhea will look to take revenge at upcoming PLE
For several weeks, the mutual feelings were obvious, but Ripley’s return strained the dynamic. When Mami returned, she was clearly unhappy with Dominik’s action. Although she regained her love, Dominik Mysterio eventually betrayed her at SummerSlam 2024. Now Rhea Ripley and Damian Priest are all set to take on Dominik Mysterio and Liv Morgan at the upcoming PLE Bash in Berlin.
