Yograj Singh Stirs Controversy with Scathing Comments on MS Dhoni and Kapil Dev
Yograj Singh, father of former Indian cricket star Yuvraj Singh, has once again ignited a firestorm of controversy with his latest comments on cricketing legends MS Dhoni and Kapil Dev.
Known for his outspoken nature, Yograj has targeted both figures in recent interviews, creating a storm on social media and among cricket fans.
In a recent interview with Zee Switch, Yograj Singh criticized MS Dhoni for allegedly “destroying” Yuvraj Singh’s international career. He claimed that Dhoni’s influence effectively ended Yuvraj’s chances of continuing with the Indian team for another 4-5 years.
Yograj’s frustration towards Dhoni is nothing new; he has repeatedly voiced his displeasure over Dhoni’s handling of his son’s career, accusing him of being unfair and detrimental.

Yograj’s comments about Dhoni took an even more personal turn as he expressed his unwillingness to forgive the former captain.
“I won’t forgive MS Dhoni,” Yograj declared.
“He should look at his face in the mirror. He is a very big cricketer, but what he has done against my son, everything is coming out now; it can never be forgiven in life.”
His remarks reflect deep-seated resentment and bitterness, with Yograj vowing never to forgive Dhoni, revealing a side of his personality that clings to old grudges.
The criticism didn’t stop with Dhoni. Yograj Singh also directed his ire at Kapil Dev, the legendary captain of India’s 1983 World Cup-winning team.
Yograj and Kapil Dev have had a strained relationship for decades, dating back to 1981 when Yograj was dropped from the Indian squad. Yograj has long believed that Kapil played a significant role in his exclusion, viewing him as a rival.
In his recent comments, Yograj didn’t hold back. He compared his son’s achievements unfavorably against Kapil’s, highlighting Yuvraj’s 13 major trophies compared to Kapil’s single World Cup win.
“The greatest captain of our time, Kapil Dev… I said to him, I’ll leave you in a position where the world would curse you. Today, Yuvraj Singh has 13 trophies, and you have only one, the World Cup. End of discussion,” Yograj stated with palpable disdain.
These statements have sparked a furious backlash from fans and cricketing pundits alike. Many view Yograj’s comments as disrespectful and uncalled for, considering the revered status both Dhoni and Kapil Dev hold in Indian cricket.
Critics argue that Yograj’s continuous public criticism of these cricketing icons undermines the respect and dignity that should be maintained, especially given their contributions to the sport and their roles in shaping Indian cricket’s legacy.
From a journalistic perspective, Yograj Singh’s remarks reveal more about his personal grievances than about the actual careers of Dhoni and Kapil Dev.
While it’s understandable that he feels protective of his son and harbors resentment over perceived wrongs, publicly airing such deep-seated animosities does little to enhance his credibility. Instead, it reinforces a narrative of unresolved bitterness rather than constructive criticism.
