John Cena doesn’t appear in WWE often now because of his busy acting schedule. There have been several WWE superstars who have been actors before him, such as Hulk Hogan, Roddy Piper, The Rock and Batista, but very few match Cena’s achievements in Hollywood. Now, the 16-time WWE champion is set to make an appearance on The Simpsons.
Cena will appear in the show ‘The Simpsons’
There were a lot of big announcements at San Diego Comic-Con last week, the biggest of which was the casting of Robert Downey Jr. as Dr. Doom. There were also a couple of smaller announcements, including one that excited the WWE fans. The creator of The Simpsons, Matt Groening, was joined by showrunner Matt Selman and the producers at the panel to discuss what was coming up for next season. They talked about a parody of Venom for an episode and also announced that there would be a second-themed anthology episode. They also revealed the plans for the season 36 premier.
The producers released a teaser for the Simpsons Season 36 opener in which the former Simpsons’ writer Conan O’Brien will return in a major guest role. Other guests in that opener include John Cena, Danny DeVito and Tom Hanks. The episode is going to be crazy with this star-studded cast.
Bret Hart was the first wrestler to appear in the show
It would be quite exciting to see John Cena with his comedic skills on The Simpsons, but he wouldn’t be the first wrestling star to accomplish this feat. In 1997, when Bret Hart was in his last year in WWE before moving to WCW, he played a major role in Simpsons’ episode ‘Old Man and Lisa.’ The episode was so successful that “The Hitman” even had a simpsons action figure made out of it. It is not surprising that John Cena has got part in such a popular show. Cena made his Hollywood debut in 2006 with the film The Marine. He has also made his mark in the last few years with the Fast and Furious franchise, as well as the Peacemaker series. This year he also appeared in movies like Argyle and Ricky Stanicky.
The Hollywood star will retire from WWE next year
John Cena will take some time away from Hollywood and his acting career as he will return to WWE one last time in 2025. “The Cenation Leader” will retire from WWE next year after performing at some of the major PLEs like Royal Rumble, Elimination Chamber and WrestleMania. Many fans want to see him hold the WWE title one more time and become the champion for the 17th time.
