WWE has blasted the speculation about collaborating with AEW for a mega show involving superstars from both promotions. Wrestling companies have been seeing great success and popularity by doing crossover events, but WWE seems not interested in doing so. Recently, WWE Executive Vice President of Talent Relations and Head of Communications Chris Legential clearly stated that WWE is not interested in doing a collaboration with AEW.
WWE official clearly deny any interest in collaborating
Chris Legential recently appeared on Sports Media Podcast with Richard Deitsch and was asked if WWE had any interest in potentially working with AEW. To which his answer was clear as he said, “No interest…I just want to make it clear.”
He further stated that there is a lot of great talent that is not currently in WWE. So there’s no shots that are being fired. “The answer to your question is no conversation has been had in relation to that,” said Legentil.
The statement made by Legentil has completely crushed any hopes of seeing a collaboration between WWE and AEW, even though the AEW president Tony Khan expressed interest in the idea earlier. Khan appeared on the Rich Eisen program last week and discussed the possibility of a show involving WWE and AEW superstars. Tony Khan stated that he would be excited for such a collaboration and also recognized the practical and business-related challenges that could potentially prevent it from becoming a reality.
“I would love it if that were possible, I don’t know if it’s possible or not, but it would be great if it was possible for the fans,” said Khan.
WWE already has a collaboration with TNA
WWE opposing the idea of collaborating with AEW can be understood given their current commercial success. Arguably WWE is currently the most popular and highest-rated wrestling promotion and they don’t need a partnership to enhance their brand. Furthermore, the Stamford-based promotion already has cross-collaboration with TNA, which reduces the need to partner with AEW. The partnership with TNA provides WWE with the opportunity to showcase a great variety of talents and storylines without needing to reach any other promotion.

Although wrestling fans may dream of seeing an iconic event featuring stars from both companies, the current stance of WWE officials makes it clear that they are not thinking of such a collaboration. WWE’s successful business means they don’t need to reach out to AEW or their talent, instead of this, they are focusing on enhancing their brand and focusing on internal storylines.
