WWE’s music is one of the most important parts of its shows. Some superstars have themes that are so influential that they transcend the wrestling business and are used at concerts and major sporting events. Good music is a huge part of WWE’s legacy and that’s probably why Def Rebel’s working relationship with the promotion could be coming to an end in a matter of months. This rumor has been started by Pro Wrestling Nexus via Cultaholic.
The five-year deal is ending
According to this rumor, WWE is not interested in signing a new deal with Def Rebel when the current contract between the two parties expires. A few months ago it was reported that Def Rebel’s current deal with WWE is expiring at the end of 2024, so it seems that Def Rebel’s time with the company is almost over.
Def Rebel signed a contract with WWE in 2019, and given WWE’s fondness for five-year deals when it comes to entertainment partnerships, it makes sense that their original deal is coming to an end. Earlier this year, it was also seen that WWE is very aware that fans are not that impressed with Def Rebel’s work in the wrestling world. Def Rebel’s work sounds too generic. Johnny Gargano and Tiffany Stratton’s main roster themes are the two main examples of songs that Def Rebel did not do a good job on.
Def Rebel has produced some notable themes
This doesn’t mean that every song Def Rebel has produced in WWE is bad. Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins and Damian Priest– all of their themes are written by Def Rebel and they are all loved by the fans. However, there are a lot of superstars whose themes don’t get a response because fans don’t know who they are when their music plays. Even the most mediocre wrestlers should be instantly recognized by fans within seconds of their music playing and that’s not the case anymore.

When Randy Orton returned from his long injury layoff, The Viper was reportedly offered a new Def Rebel theme, but he turned it down before even hearing the full track. Orton has been a part of WWE for more than 20 years and has the authority to do this, whereas new stars may not feel like they can.
