WWE programming has always switched between networks and channels. Whenever a deal expires, the company negotiates a new one and their shows start airing elsewhere. However, the upcoming changes are going to be bigger than usual. Beginning in January 2025, WWE Raw will air on Netflix, marking the first time in WWE history that its flagship show will be shown live in the same place at the same time, no matter from which part of the world you are watching. This is not the only thing that will be different.
Triple H mentioned few changes regarding the censorship
On Monday, WWE CEO Triple H was a guest on the Pat McAfee show and he was asked about the changes once Raw starts streaming on Netflix. ‘The Game’ mentioned the biggest change and that was the lack of censorship on the platform. Triple H stated that whenever the show is on Fox and the crowd yells ‘Holy sh**’ or something worse, the audio is turned off. Sometimes a black screen is displayed, so these problems will not happen with Netflix.
McAfee mentioned The Rock on the show, that’s when Triple H discussed censorship in WWE. There was a lot of controversy when the Hollywood star returned to WWE earlier this year and appeared to be above the rules. He Sweared on TV, as well as in his social media promos. Triple H stated that The Rock does what he wants and it is up to the USA whether they want to censor what he says or if the network feels it is necessary.
Every WWE show will be available on Netflix
Triple H hinted at other changes that need to be considered when comparing Raw’s current state and its status on Netflix. Especially when it comes to using curse words, how long the show will be, how ads will work and whether there will be a break at all. Triple H didn’t elaborate but ads will remain on Raw when it moves to Netflix. Because if ads are not there there will be a lot of extra time to fill.
Even though SmackDown and NXT will remain on regular networks, when RAW starts to stream on Netflix, the other shows and content will come to the streaming platform in other parts of the world. WWE will completely shut down on Peacock by the end of 2024 and move everything to Netflix outside the USA from January 2025. Every WWE show will be available on Netflix starting next year.
