The much-awaited Women’s Premier League auction (WPL 2024) is all set to be conducted on 9th December 2023 in Mumbai. The first edition of the WPL was quite a success and the organizers are only expecting better results in the second season.
All five franchises have retained the core of their side and, thus, you won’t see many big names going under the hammer in the upcoming auction. Teams, though, still have some holes to fill and they would look to do the shopping effectively to strengthen their unit, further.
The WPL 2024 will, once again, have five franchises competing against each other. Mumbai Indians won the tournament last year after beating Delhi Capitals in the final.
WPL 2024 Auction: Players up for Grabs:

As many as 165 players will be going under the hammer, which includes 56 capped and 109 uncapped players. The five teams have a total of 17.65 crores to spend at the auction. They have a total of 30 vacancies left to fill, which includes 9 overseas candidates.
Players retained:
The five teams have retained a total of 60 players, including 21 overseas and 29 Indians, which means that the upcoming auction will be a calmer affair than last year.
Budget left:
Gujarat Giants (5.95 crores) have the highest budget going into the auction, while Mumbai Indians (2.1 crores) have the least amount to spend. Delhi Capitals have 2.25 crores to spend, while the likes of UP Warriorz and Royal Challengers Bangalore have 4 crores and 3.35 crores, respectively, to spend at the auction.
