The cricket world is buzzing as the second edition of the Women’s Premier League 2024 is all set to kick off with a high-octane clash between Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals on 23rd February at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore.
Mumbai Indians are the defending champions, having won the inaugural edition of the tournament. Ahead of the second season, Harmanpreet Kaur and Co. would be keen to win their second consecutive WPL title.
Dates and Venues
The 2nd edition of the Women’s Premier League is due to take place between 23rd February to 17th March 2024. Last year, the entire tournament was held in Mumbai.
However, the 2nd season is slated to take place at two different venues, namely M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore and Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. The first leg will be hosted in Bangalore and will run until 4th March.
The action will then resume in Delhi from 5th March and continue till 17th. The eliminator and the final of the WPL 2024 will take place on 15th March and 17th March 2024, respectively. Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi will play host to both the important games this season.
Tournament Format
The 2nd season will continue to be played in a double-round robin format with each team playing against every other team twice. The team that finishes at the top at the end of the league stage will go straight into the final, while the second and third-placed team will lock horns with each other in the Eliminator clash.
The winner will make their way into the final, while the losing team will go back home.
Women’s Premier League 2024 Timing
All the matches are slated to start at 7:30 PM (IST). There is no break between any of the league-stage matches. The only break days are one each before the two knockouts.
