New Zealand Cops Double Blow: Kane Williamson and Kyle Jamieson Ruled Out of Bangladesh T20Is
New Zealand’s preparations for their upcoming T20I series against Bangladesh have been rocked by injuries to captain Kane Williamson and fast bowler Kyle Jamieson, forcing both out of the 13-man squad.
Williamson, returning from a recent injury, will undergo a rehabilitation and strengthening program for his knee. The cautious approach aims to have him firing on all cylinders for the crucial Test series against South Africa and Australia in the new year.
Coach Gary Stead emphasized, “We want both Kane and Kyle to be in the best possible place leading into the next block of Test cricket.”

Jamieson, meanwhile, won’t risk aggravating a hamstring strain with a busy Test schedule looming. Stead explained, “Based on discussions with the medical staff and the players, it was decided a period of rehabilitation and conditioning was the best option for both of them.”
Stepping into the breach are experienced pacer Jacob Duffy and young gun Rachin Ravindra. Duffy, returning to the Black Caps setup, brings a wealth of T20 experience and has honed his white-ball skills in recent seasons.
Stead praises his contribution, saying, “Jacob is an experienced T20 cricketer and always brings a lot when he is part of the Black Caps environment.”
Ravindra, a rising star, injects energy and a thirst for learning across all formats. Stead acknowledges, “Rachin adds to any environment he’s a part of and has a great desire to learn and develop his game.”
While the loss of Williamson and Jamieson is a blow, their replacements offer exciting opportunities. Duffy’s experience and Ravindra’s raw talent could prove game-changers in the Bangladesh series, as the Black Caps look to build momentum towards the upcoming Test challenges.
