Jey Uso left The Bloodline last year and since then he has become a single star on WWE Raw. His new catchphrase “Yeet” and new firefly entrance have turned him into a megastar. Last month, Jey was involved in a brother vs. brother dream match against his brother, Jimmy, at WrestleMania 40, but unfortunately, it was the worst contest of the two nights. Fans were hoping for their father, WWE legend Rikishi, to come and get involved, perhaps even be a guest referee, but nothing like it happened and now Jey Uso has explained the reason behind it.
The Hall of Famer was an iconic star
Everyone was thinking about the Hall of Famer getting into the matter because if Jey and Jimmy Uso are involved in a feud, you’ll definitely want Rikishi to be a part of it. He is an iconic WWE superstar who was capable of working many gimmicks and was also one of the biggest stars in the Attitude Era.
In an interview, Jey Uso said, “I always wanted my dad involved, whether it was being a referee… I don’t think my dad could have kept up, just getting up and down, because referees, they’re doing like, push up burpees the whole match too, they’re getting a great workout. Maybe like a going home promo, just some kind of cool promo segment. There might be another time for it.”
Will Rikishi deliver a promo in future ?
Last year, Rikishi was asked in an interview if he would be involved in any of the Bloodline stories, to which his response was just a smile and laugh. It’s obvious why Rikishi would be hesitant about returning to WWE because the situation might require him to get physical. Rikishi is no longer the version of himself he was two decades ago. The 58-year-old has not wrestled in many years. Even as a referee, it would have been a difficult task to ask him to do a lot of get-up-and-go.

Jey Uso hopes that Rikishi will return to deliver a promo one day, but it seems that if that moment were ever to come, it would have already happened. If he wasn’t involved in his sons’ biggest match at WrestleMania, when would he be present? Maybe he’ll be back for a rematch, but we can’t expect him to be back anytime soon. Also, Jimmy Uso is currently out with an injury.
