The upcoming Netflix docuseries on the life of former WWE Chairman Vince McMahon has upset many people in the company. The general feeling so far is that people are not concerned about WWE backstage, but in real life they are. According to renowned wrestling journalist Dave Meltzer, the reaction at WWE backstage has been negative.
The reactions from people are mixed
For the people who are Vince supporters, they are concerned that the documentary will actually show the dark side of McMahon’s character, exposing many of his misdeeds. On the other hand, people who are anti-Vince will not like that Vince McMahon’s business acuity and his accomplishments will be highlighted in the six-part series.
While speaking on his Wrestling Observer Radio, Meltzer said, “I know that there are people who are in WWE who are not happy with it. I don’t know how fair it is to Vince, but there are people there—these are pro-Vince people, who aren’t happy, but if it was a fair documentary, how could they be? We’ll see, but I am certain that the people who are really, really anti-Vince will not be happy either”.
Vince is embroiled in a sex trafficking lawsuit
Many critics of Vince McMahon consider this docuseries to be the final nail in Vince McMahon’s coffin. He has faced huge criticism from the public ever since former WWE employee Janel Grant filed a sex trafficking lawsuit against him in January this year. Grant, who began working with WWE in 2019, has alleged that Vince not only sexually abused her over the three years of her employment but also trafficked her to other men in the company, including former Head of Talent Relations, John Laurinaitis. She has also claimed that Vince McMahon forcefully sent her to a wellness clinic, where doctors acquainted with him prescribed her unknown pills.

Prior to the release of this docuseries, Janel Grant also hired a top PR firm, SKDC, to manage the perception on social media following the release of the docuseries. The firm also later released a statement supporting Janel Grant and her claims and stated that it would defend its client Grant against the injustice she suffered at the hands of former WWE chairman Vince McMahon.
