West Ham form analysis
The Hammers’ recent Premier League matches highlight an inconsistent team struggling for form under David Moyes. They started this period with a 1-3 home loss to Man City, going behind early before Ward-Prowse briefly levelled. They started this period losing 0-1 at home to Arsenal after conceding late on. Everton responded well by winning 3-1 away at Brentford thanks to goals from Doucoure, Tarkowski and Calvert-Lewin. But that proved a false dawn as they lost 1-2 at home to Luton in the FA Cup, with only Calvert-Lewin scoring. A much-needed 3-0 home win over Bournemouth followed, powered by Garner, Harrison and Doucoure strikes. However, Everton ended this spell with a 0-2 home loss in the Merseyside derby, comfortably beaten by Liverpool.
Overall, Everton have shown spirit but a lack of quality during this battle for survival. Dyche has added steel in midfield but goals have been lacking, with Everton heavily reliant on Calvert-Lewin’s fitness. If Dyche can make Everton harder to beat and eke out wins ugly if needed, survival is still possible. But finding attacking spark to turn draws into wins is crucial with Everton lacking goals and fluency. It will likely be a long hard fight against relegation this season, especially if they are to face point deductions.
