Werder Bremen form analysis
Bremen has had mixed results in recent Bundesliga matches. On December 11th, they played to a 2-2 draw with Eintracht Frankfurt, with Marvin Ducksch scoring a penalty in the 45th minute to give Werder a 1-0 lead at halftime before conceding two goals after the break. Werder rallied to equalize in the 75th minute off a goal from Hanno Behrens. Their previous match on November 25th was a more one-sided 0-3 defeat to Bayer Leverkusen, with an own goal and two late goals sealing the loss. Prior to that on December 2nd, Werder fell 2-0 to Stuttgart on goals from Undav and Guirassy.
However, on December 9th, Werder secured a key 2-0 home win over Augsburg behind goals from Niklas Stark and Ducksch again. Most recently on December 16th, Werder battled back from a deficit twice against Borussia Mönchengladbach to secure a 2-2 draw, with Ramy Bensebaini and Jonas Hofmann scoring for Gladbach and Ducksch netting his 7th goal of the season to equalize late for Werder. Overall, Werder has struggled defensively at times but has shown fighting spirit, while Ducksch’s goal-scoring has been a bright spot. Securing more consistent results and better defensive performances will be key for Werder’s hopes going forward this season.
Leipzig form analysis
RB Leipzig has hit a good run of form in recent Bundesliga matches. On November 13th, they secured a 3-1 home win over high-flying Freiburg behind goals from Xaver Simons, substitute Lukas Openda, and Christoph Baumgartner. However, on November 25th they suffered a setback in a 2-1 loss away to Wolfsburg. Despite Yussuf Poulsen equalizing in the second half. Leipzig bounced back on December 2nd with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Heidenheim as Openda and Poulsen found the net. Their biggest result came on December 9th when they went to Borussia Dortmund and came away with a dramatic 3-2 victory – own goals bookended the scoring while Baumgartner and Poulsen netted in between.
Most recently on the 16th, Leipzig cruised past Hoffenheim 3-1 at home as Lukas Klostermann, Emil Forsberg and Mohamed Simakan tallied the goals. With weapons like Timo Werner sidelined by injury, others have stepped up during this stretch. The defense has tightened up lately and shown character. If Leipzig can maintain this form moving forward, they could make a push towards the top places in the Bundesliga table. Staying healthy and keeping confidence high will be critical to continued success.
