World Cricket Association Urges Bangladesh Premier League Leadership to Resolve Foreign Players’ Payment Disputes
As the next edition of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) is set to kick off on December 30, officials from the World Cricket Association (WCA) have raised concerns regarding the outstanding payments of foreign cricketers who participated in the last edition.
Cricbuzz recently learned that the WCA, a global players’ body in cricket representing players from top cricket-playing countries through their domestic players’ association, has sent a letter to the BPL leadership addressing the non-payment issues faced by foreign players.

While Comilla Victorians, Chattogram Challengers, and Durdanto Dhaka will not be participating in the upcoming season, Sylhet Strikers, Khulna Tigers, Rangpur Riders, and the defending champions Fortune Barishal will continue to compete. After an 11-year hiatus, Chittagong Kings will make their return, and two new teams, Dhaka Capitals and Durbar Rajshahi, have joined the league this season.

Nazmul Abedin, BPL governing council member secretary, acknowledged the foreign players’ payment issues from the previous edition and stated that efforts are underway to resolve them. Debabrata Paul from the Cricketers Welfare Association of Bangladesh revealed that 12 out of the 15 affected players have been cleared by their respective franchises, with ongoing efforts to ensure the remaining three players receive their payments soon.
