The PCB also declared that it has filed a “formal protest” regarding the denial of Pakistani journalists’ requests for visas to cover the 2023 World Cup.
“The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has lodged another formal protest with the ICC over delays in visas for Pakistani journalists and the absence of a visa policy for Pakistan fans for the ongoing World Cup 2023,” the PCB stated on its official ‘X’ feed.
The PCB has also complained about improper behavior directed at the Pakistan team during the India vs. Pakistan game played on October 14, 2023.
The PCB was rumored to be considering protesting to the ICC about “some of the incidents” during their World Cup encounter against the hosts in Ahmedabad, according to Zaka Ashraf, the head of the cricket management committee for the PCB.
Zaka Ashraf returned on Monday, according to a board source, and is currently meeting with senior board members to discuss his trip to India.
According to a source, “Zaka Ashraf was himself present at Ahmedabad for the match against India and is witness to some incidents which has left him unhappy despite the Indian cricket officials’ hospital during his stay there.”
He claimed that the chairman was only talking to his senior aides right now about his visit.
After Pakistan’s loss to India, its team director and head coach, Mickey Arthur, complained about the crowd’s behavior and how it affected his squad, to which ICC chairman Greg Barclay answered that the sport’s global governing body was doing everything in its power to make the World Cup a success.
According to the source, Zaka was quite unhappy with how the players performed against India and advised them to put the loss in Ahmedabad behind them and focus on their upcoming matches before leaving.
