Former England captain Michael Vaughan celebrates his 49th birthday amid the ongoing ODI World Cup 2023. Wishes for Vaughan poured in from all over the world, as the former English captain is regarded as one of the game’s all-time greats. Former India batter Wasim Jaffer, on the other hand, wished Michael Vaughan a happy birthday in a different way.
Cricket fans have been drawn to the duo of Vaughan and Jaffer, who are known for their online banter. However, instead of wishing him a happy birthday, Jaffer trolled him and called him a person who enjoys eating his own words. Jaffer took to the social media platform X and shared a photo of Cake alongside a screenshot of Vaughan’s tweet.
Skipper Michael Vaughan latest tweet:
Vaughan’s tweet in the photo read, “England are the best white-ball team in the world. They have an incredible group of players and fully deserve to host both white-ball World Cups. They have a player in Ben Stokes who knows how to win big games. Great individuals are required for great teams. England has a lot.” Quoting this picture, Wasim Jaffer said, “Happy b’day to the man who loves to eat his own words.”
The defending champions have struggled with both bat and ball in the ongoing tournament. They have lost four of their five tournament games and are on the verge of elimination. However, the Jos Buttler-led team has a golden opportunity to stay in the game by defeating India in Lucknow. Because the hosts failed to post a large total while batting first, English batters will look to dominate the run chase.
A loss here, however, will end England’s participation in the tournament. The English team’s batting unit has been very mediocre, with not a single batter being consistent in the middle. The team will also expect all-rounder Ben Stokes to get some runs with the bat, which has been one of the team’s biggest weaknesses in the tournament so far.
