Wasim Jaffer break silence on Pandya being made MI captain
In the fifth and final Twenty20 International match against the West Indies, India lost horribly on Sunday, falling short by eight wickets in Florida. With 18 overs remaining in their chase of 166, the West Indies scored 171/2 thanks to an undefeated 85 runs off 55 balls from Brandon King. The opener blasted five fours and six sixes in his furious, unbroken knock. Tilak Varma and Arshdeep Singh both claimed wickets for India during this time.
In the first 20 overs, India scored 165/9, with four wickets taken by the West Indies’ Romario Shepherd. Jason Holder and Akeal Hosein each took two wickets in the meantime. India’s best scorer, Suryakumar Yadav, amassed 61 runs off 45 deliveries.
The West Indies also won the five-match series 3-2 as a result of the outcome. Hardik Pandya, the stand-in captain, will raise questions about his form heading into the ODI World Cup. During the series, the all-round player only managed to score 77 runs with a strike rate of 110. In the meantime, his bowling was also lacking.
Rohit Sharma’s tenure as a captain came to an end. He headed the group for ten years. As the 2013 IPL captain, he assumed command. Midway through the 2013 IPL, Ricky Ponting stepped down as captain. He was the five-time IPL trophy winner. He elevated the group to new heights. The Mumbai Indians accomplished a lot when he was captain. The franchise produced Hardik, the heir to Rohit.
Wasim Jaffer On Hardik Pandya being made MI captain

Former Indian cricketer Wasim Jaffer noted on ESPNcricinfo that Pandya didn’t appear to be in good form and that this could be an issue for his team. Worse, in the series decider, Pandya could manage only 14 out of 18 deliveries.
Jaffer commented, “It has indeed been a worry. He seemed somewhat rusty. We cannot claim that the effortlessly flowing Hardik Pandya enters the game and hits a beautiful blow. implies striking it beautifully and spinning the strike rather than hitting sixes. Aside from that, he started the third ODI quite slowly and gathered up speed throughout the slog overs. He scored fifty runs in that match. But even then, he appeared a little rusty.”
“I’m concerned about it. That was a major worry given how Hardik Pandya batted during the series. He won’t always start slowly and end up with a strong performance. This was also evident during this series. The moment he arrives, the other players and the dugout are put under strain as the momentum and strike rate both decline. Something he should be concerned about, observe, and work on,” he continued.
Concerns about Hardik’s form will also exist for the forthcoming Asia Cup, which is set to start on August 31 and include India’s opening match against bitter rival Pakistan on September 2.
