Pakistan Faces Tough ODI Challenge in Australia, Says Wasim Akram
Pakistan’s cricket team is gearing up for a challenging ODI series in Australia, with cricket legend Wasim Akram cautioning fans about the difficulties the team is likely to face. Speaking in an online media session, the former pacer emphasized how demanding the Australian conditions are for Pakistan’s players.
“Winning even one ODI in Australia would be a major achievement for Pakistan,” said Akram, who has firsthand experience with the challenges posed by the Australian pitches and weather. Akram pointed out that historically, Pakistan has struggled to adapt to these conditions, and playing on Australian soil requires skill and resilience.
The upcoming series, beginning on November 4, marks Pakistan’s return to white-ball cricket in Australia after a four-year gap. The team last played a T20I series in Australia in 2019, which ended in a 2-0 loss for the visitors.
This time around, the tour will consist of three ODIs and three T20Is. While Akram acknowledged the tough road ahead, he expressed more optimism about Pakistan’s chances in the T20I format, where he believes they can give the hosts a hard time.
The series will also be the first test for Mohammad Rizwan as Pakistan’s new captain. Before leaving for Australia, Rizwan spoke to the media in Karachi, expressing confidence and a commitment to put up a fight. “We’re optimistic and prepared to turn the tables this time around,” Rizwan said, sharing that he and the squad are focused on overcoming their past struggles in Australia.
Pakistan’s performance in Australia has historically been difficult, and fans will be watching closely to see if Rizwan and his team can rise to the challenge.
