Vikas Kohli, the older brother of famous Indian cricket player Virat Kohli, recently responded on Instagram to the speculations regarding their mother Saroj Kohli’s health. He asked fans not to spread false information without first confirming its veracity in a heartfelt post. According to these rumours, Virat Kohli missed the first two Test matches against England because of his mother’s illness.
Vikas posted on his Instagram story, “I’ve noticed that false information regarding our mother’s health has been going around. To be clear, our mother is perfectly healthy. Additionally, I would ask that no one—including the media—spread such rumours without the necessary context. Regarding your concerns, I appreciate them all.”
Virat Kohli’s brother Vikas official statement:
Notably, there were early reports claiming that because of his mother’s illness, Kohli had asked to be excused from the first two Test matches against England. Nevertheless, no formal updates were given to verify this explanation. In an effort to protect Kohli’s privacy, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) asked supporters and the media to hold off on making assumptions about why he missed the first two games of the five-Test series against England.
Vikas responded to the rumours on Instagram, saying it was untrue what was being said about his mother’s condition. He clarified that everything was well with his mother. With this declaration, the rumours were refuted and it was established that his mother’s illness had nothing to do with his missing the first two Tests. The BCCI honoured Kohli’s decision to skip the matches, stating that he had withdrawn for personal reasons, and emphasised the need to respect his privacy during this time.
On the other hand, there are other sources of income for Kohli besides cricket matches. He does earn a respectable living as a player for Royal Challengers Bangalore and the Indian cricket team. Nevertheless, he manages multiple businesses in addition to his many sponsorship deals.
