IND vs. SL: Former India Captain Virat Kohli looks in astute form in the ongoing Asia Cup 2023 as he brought his 77th International ton & 47th ODI ton along with his 13,000 ODI run during the IND vs. PAK fixture. However, the next day during the IND vs. SL fixture he couldn’t continue the same momentum & got dismissed for a meager 3 runs. But that didn’t prevent Kohli from having a gala time on the field. Virat Kohli was seen shaking a leg on the popular song Bollywood song ‘Lungi Dance’ during India’s bowling innings at R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.

It seemed like Virat Kohli is happy with his current form & team’s good performances in the ongoing Super 4 stage of the Asia Cup 2023. Though Kohli couldn’t do much during the Sri Lanka fixture resulting in India’s innings getting wrapped for 213 runs with Sri Lankan spinner Dunith Wellalage claiming 5/40 in 10 overs. In reply, India bowled Sri lanka for 172 runs with India winning the fixture by 41 runs & qualifying for the Asia Cup final to be played on September 17.
IND vs SL: Virat Kohli & Rohit Sharma reached 5000 runs mark as a pair
Virat Kohli & Rohit Sharma achieved a unique feat as the duo reached a total of 5,000 runs as a pair. The duo achieved the feta during the IND vs. SL fixture on Tuesday. Though the partnership between Rohit and Virat, as the star duo is known among the fans, was short and restricted to just 10 runs after the dismissal of Virat for three, it was enough to touch this landmark. In 86 innings, they have scored 5,008 runs as a pair at an average of 61.82. They have had 18 hundred run stands and 15 half-century stands, with their best being a partnership of 246 runs.
The duo is also the fastest to recah the landmark overtaking legendary batter Gordon Greenidge and Desmond Haynes, who reached the mark in 97 innings. They are the eighth-most successful duo of all time, with the best being Sachin Tendulkar and Sourav Ganguly, who scored 8,227 runs as a pair in 176 innings at an average of 47.55 and 26 century and 29 half-century stands. Their best partnership is 258 runs.
Behind Sachin & Sourav the other remarkable pair is of Rohit-Shikhar Dhawan (5,193 runs at an average of 45.15 with 18 century and 15 half-century stands) they are the third-best batting pair of the Indian cricket team.
India dismantled Sri Lanka to march into Asia Cup finals
Coming to the fixture, India won the toss & opted to bat first. Batting first Rohit & Shubman stitched an 80-run stand to lay the foundation of a big score. However, last match centurion Virat couldn’t continue his form after getting dispersed for just 3 runs. But it doesn’t matter the team as the middle order comprising of Rahul (39) & Ishan (33) delivered to stabilize India’s innings. In the lower middle order, Axar’s (26) fighting knock proved magical which led India to a decent total of 199 runs.
In reply, Sri Lanka was bundled out for 172 runs in 41 overs registering a gleaming 41-run win. Kuldeep (43-4), Jasprit (30-2) & Jadeja (33-2) starred with the ball & dismantled India’s innings to grant them a second win in the Super 4 stage. They have now qualified for the Asia Cup 2023 Finals & will look ahead to win this title with World Cup 2023 in the picture.
