While several batters were sad to not be included, Jofra Archer’s exclusion from the World Cup squad left many supporters perplexed given the impact the pacer may have if he manages to stay fit in the tournament’s later stages. Despite being passed over, the Barbados-based pacer has been practising a variety of intriguing workouts in order to make a comeback. One of Jofra Archer’s odd bowling displays involved the pacer using his left hand rather than his customary right arm. The pacer can be seen practising indoor net bowling in the video, and instead of bowling with his right hand as normal, Archer can be seen steaming in with the ball in his left hand.
Jofra Archer miraculously managed to produce a length ball to the batter facing him in the nets while without using his natural bowling arm. For those who are unfamiliar, England pacer Jofra Archer missed most of last year’s action owing to a serious elbow injury.
The severity of his injury was such that even after having surgery earlier this year, Archer was forced to withdraw from the SA 20 and an ODI series against South Africa, followed by a brief stint in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Archer subsequently played a crucial role in England winning the 2019 World Cup.
In an interesting move, the ECB has decided to permit Archer to travel to India with England for the next ODI World Cup 2023 in the hopes that he can be deployed as a backup bowler in the event that any pacers suffer an unexpected injury.
