The widespread misuse of artificial intelligence renders the technological innovations of today both advantageous and harmful to civilization. Prominent Indian batter Virat Kohli is the latest victim of Deepfake Technology; his tinny voice is being used to promote a betting app. A recent social media sensation is a video featuring cricketer Virat Kohli promoting an app that offers substantial returns on users’ investments.
To give the advertisement even more legitimacy, the scammers have added a video of a renowned TV station journalist, creating the appearance that it is airing during an on-air news programme. The advertisement claimed that Kohli made INR 81,000 in three days with just INR 1,000 invested.

The con artists inserted a clip from Kohli’s well-known interview with Graham Bensinger later in the video. The cricket player’s actual voice was then superimposed over a phoney one. They made him lip-synch the telegraphed message by using technology for that purpose.
Cricketer Virat Kohli has pulled out of the current five-match Test series against England for personal reasons. On January 22, the star batsman reported to the Indian camp in Hyderabad ahead of the first Test match. But he had to leave that same day due to personal circumstances.
The Indian Cricket Board respected Kohli’s right to privacy by allowing him to miss all five Test matches. The story took a turn when Kohli’s close friend and former South African cricket player AB de Villiers revealed on his YouTube channel that the well-known cricket player is expecting a second child with Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma.
However, a few days later, de Villiers apologised for spreading false information and accepted responsibility for his comments. In the five-match series, India has rallied from a 0-1 deficit to take a 2-1 lead. This follows consecutive wins in Rajkot and Visakhapatnam even with Kohli out of the game. Friday, February 23, the fourth Test between the two teams will take place at Ranchi’s JSCA International Stadium Complex.
On the personal front, Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma welcomed their second child into the world. On February 15, the couple made their baby boy’s arrival public. They have named the boy Akaay, Anushka announced on Instagram. The post said, “We are happy to announce to everyone that on February 15th, we welcomed our baby boy, Akaay, and Vamika’s younger brother into the world. We are filled with love and abundance! In this wonderful moment of our lives, we ask for your blessings and well wishes. We kindly ask that you respect our privacy at this time.”
