Netflix has finally released the much-awaited six-part docuseries on Vince McMahon that is expected to extensively shed light on his scandals and alleged predatory nature. The docuseries that was initially scheduled to be completed in 2022 was updated with more content after a hush money scandal involving the former WWE Chairman came to light that same year. Following the scandal, McMahon resigned from the company, but six months later he returned as the executive chairman of TKO Group after WWE merged with the entity.
Vince attempted to buy the docuseries
In addition, the events following Janel Grant’s sex trafficking trial are also depicted in the Netflix documentary. A latest report stated that when Vince McMahon saw the first footage of the show, he attempted to buy it to prevent its release. This is reported by Matthew Belloni in Puck’s What I’m Hearing newsletter. Belloni stated that Vince McMahon is still nervous about the documentary and had attempted to buy the project from Netflix. Additionally, Endeavour CEO Ari Emanuel also expressed concerns about the show, specifically “the doc’s treatment of Vince’s alter ego, ‘Mr. McMahon.’”
However, Netflix continued with the project and later added more content to the series, most notably the events surrounding sex trafficking lawsuit filed by Janel Grant and the hush money payment scandal. Due to the lawsuit that surfaced in January 2024, the release of the series, which was previously scheduled for March 2024, was postponed. The producers added more content and the series finally released on September 25, 2024.

The former WWE chairman criticized the producers
Just one day before the release of the docuseries, Vince McMahon criticized the show’s producers for using editing tricks to mislead the viewers and create a misleading story about him. McMahon also said that he has no regrets about participating in the project but feels like producers failed to tell an objective story. McMahon urged viewers to keep an open mind while watching the series and remember that there are always two sides of every story.
