Verona vs Monza: Preview
Verona form analysis
Hellas Verona’s recent run of games paints the picture of a side badly lacking in confidence and attacking threat. They started with an expected 1-0 home loss to Atalanta, unable to muster any real goal threat. Their struggles in attack continued in a dour goalless home draw with Torino, mustering just 2 shots on target. Things got worse with a 1-2 home cup defeat to Frosinone, going 2-0 down before a late consolation proved too little, too late. Back in league action,
Verona were then swept aside 1-3 at home by Napoli’s scintillating attack, unable to cope despite Lazovic’s temporary response. Most recently they suffered late heartbreak, losing 0-1 at home to Juventus from a 90th minute winner in another toothless display. Overall, Verona have lacked any spark in the final third, scoring just twice all spell. With the league’s worst attack, adding much needed flair is crucial if they hope to avoid relegation this season after last year’s heroics.
Monza form analysis
Monza’s recent run of games has shown gradual signs of improvement despite still searching for consistency. They started with a solid goalless home draw against Bologna, defending resolutely throughout. Building on this, they secured an impressive 1-0 away win at Sassuolo thanks to Colombo’s clinical strike on the counter. However, defensive issues surfaced next game in a heavy 3-0 home loss to Salernitana, totally outplayed from start to finish.
There was an improved display in a narrow 0-1 loss away at high-flying Roma, limited to few chances but remaining compact. Most recently, Monza strengthened their credentials with an entertaining 1-1 home draw against Udinese, going ahead through Colpani before being pegged back late on. Overall, Monza has shown defensive stability but still lacks a cutting edge in attack. Adding offensive firepower will be crucial if they are to avoid a return to the second tier this season.
