Umar Nurmagomedov, who fights in the bantamweight division of the UFC, seems unhappy with Sean O’Malley’s title reign. Umar is the cousin of former UFC champion Khabib Nurmagomedov and is touted as the next big name in the promotion and is undefeated in MMA with a record of 17-0. The Dagestani fighter’s most recent win came against Bekzat Almakhan, where he showcased a brilliant display of wrestling and striking to get the unanimous decision win.
Umar is ashamed of O’Malley
After securing five straight wins in the UFC, the “Young Eagle” is getting ready to face his first big and challenging opponent. At the upcoming UFC Abu Dhabi, Umar is set to face off against Cory Sandhagen. The Dagestani is pretty confident that he will win against Sandhagen. He has also taken a dislike to the current UFC bantamweight champion, Sean O’Malley. Recently, in an interview with Daniel Cormier, Umar expressed his feelings about “Suga.”
“I’m ashamed that Sean O’Malley is the champion. It’s a shame because men have to be different, it’s not just about making funny stuff, you have to be a good example for younger generation and do something like men not like clown,” said Umar Nurmagomedov.
Umar further stated that life is not just about making money and becoming rich. Good behavior with good manners is what makes a real gentleman. However, “Suga” doesn’t seem to be bothered by the talks going around about him.
O’Malley claims he can defeat McGregor
After avenging the only defeat of his career against Marlon Vera, O’Malley is now set to face Merab Dvalishvili at UFC 306 on September 15. However, amid his preparation for the upcoming fight, Suga has taken aim at the former UFC champion Conor McGregor. Recently, he also stated that he wants to make millions by boxing, just like McGregor did against Floyd Mayweather.
Appearing on his YouTube channel, Sean O’Malley claimed that he is better than the “Mystic Mac” and also said that if a fight ever happens between them, “Suga” would easily defeat McGregor.
The Irishman is yet to respond to Sean O’Malley’s claims. And with Dvalishili and Umar already awaiting to capture the bantamweight title, a match between Sean O’Malley and Conor McGregor is unlikely to happen anytime soon.
