Former UFC Bantamweight champion Aljamain Sterling has accepted the challenge he got from Movsar Evloev. The development came following a social media post by the Russian. The drama started when Evloev shared a video that showed Sterling waking up in the middle of the night. The video was A.I generated and showed Sterling saying, ‘Oh my God, Movsar is looking for me. It’s time to escape. F**k I didn’t think it would be this scary.’
Sterling responded to Evloev’s post
The video immediately gained attention online. The Russian is undefeated with wins over notable opponents such as Allen, Diego Lopes and Dan lge. Sterling immediately fired back at Evelov. Responding to his mocking post just a day later, Sterling posted an image of Evloev, labeling him the most boring fighter of UFC. His caption read, “Don’t worry. Sign the contract when it comes in so I can get my title shot.”
“The Funk Master” has been vocal about his ambitions in the featherweight division, previously calling out Brian Ortega after a dominant win over Calvin Kattar. At the UFC 300 post-fight press conference, Sterling stated “Give me the next best guy. I’ll take Brian Ortega respectfully. He is a guy I got to train with one time, same management, there is no bad blood or anything like that. We are both trying to pursue the same thing. It’s a different situation, I think I beat a guy like him, and I’m undeniable.”
However, with Ortega potentially lining up for a title shot against Ilia Topuria along with Max Holloway and former champion Alex Volkanovski, Sterling’s path may now include facing Evloev. He is heating up and fans are eagerly anticipating a clash between the two.
Sterling is focused on the featherweight division
Sterling is a former bantamweight champion and the only titleholder in division history to make three consecutive successful title defenses. His record-setting reign ended last year in August against Sean O’Malley. Aljamain has now turned his attention to the featherweight division, where two more wins could land him a title shot in this category.
