Former UFC fighter Mark Coleman is currently in a coma in intensive care after a courageous rescue attempt to save his parents from a disastrous house fire that broke out in Toledo, Ohio, on Tuesday. His manager, Michael DiSabato, confirmed the tragic incident and stated that the fire started around 4 a.m. Coleman was alerted by the barking of his family dog, Hammer. He managed to rescue both his father and mother from the residence. Unfortunately, despite his heroic efforts, Coleman’s attempts to save Hammer from the flames were unsuccessful, resulting in the dog’s death.

It is unclear whether he fell inside or outside the burning house. As firefighters arrived at the scene, The ceiling collapsed and Coleman suffered the effects of smoke inhalation. He was later taken to a nearby Toledo hospital for immediate medical treatment. Despite the seriousness of the situation, Coleman’s family members are optimistic about his recovery. His daughter, Morgan Coleman, described her father as “fighting for his life” in an Instagram post.

“As many know, our dad was involved in a house fire early this morning along with his parents and beloved dog, hammer. He managed to carry both of his parents out of the house but despite his best efforts was not able to save hammer. He was life-flighted to the hospital where he is currently battling for his life after this heroic act,” she wrote.

Additionally, Mark’s mother, Connie Foos Coleman, expressed gratitude for his survival and urged prayers for her son’s well-being in a Facebook message on Tuesday evening. She also thanked the firefighters and the sheriff’s department. Fire officials have not yet released further details about the cause of the fire or the extent of the damage. Requests for information from the relevant authorities remain unanswered at this time.
