UFC fighter Paddy Pimblett has recently revealed how hateful comments on the internet left him depressed. He joined the UFC in 2021 and displayed some great action in his fights. However, after an argument with MMA journalist Ariel Helwani and then a disappointing performance against Jared Gordon, his stock dropped rapidly. “The Baddy” revealed that he was depressed after the Gordon fight, which resulted in him not training for his fight with Tony Fergusn, a fight in which his cardio looked poor.
“The Baddy” got depressed because of negative comments
Pimblett has hinted at trying out YouTube boxing soon, but he has a fight coming up against Bobby Green at UFC 304. In an interview with the New York Post, Pimblett talked about how hate comments on the internet affected him personally. The English fighter stated that the negativity left him depressed after his close win over Jared Gordon. He received even more nasty comments after an unimpressive performance against Tony Ferguson.
Talking about the hate on social media, Pimblett said, “People were commenting on all my stuff, saying this and that, but the worst part was some of the comments saying, ‘Oh, you might as well go kill yourself now, your life is over,’ and it’s like ‘F***king else.” Pimblett admitted that this all bothered his mind a lot but made him a lot stronger.
Pimblett claimed that he is the best lightweight
Paddy gave a motivational speech about the importance of mental health after his win against Jordan Leavitt in the UK. He had an amazing start to his UFC career, winning the first three bouts via Knockout and submissions. However, his performance in the last two fights has not been stellar at all. He has the chance to silence all the critics and bounce back by facing Green at UFC 304.
UFC veteran Bobby Green has a unique fighting style that is often very difficult for opponents to understand. However, Pimblett has claimed that Green is not physically imposing enough. The English fighter claimed that he is the true lightweight and one of the biggest in the division. Pimblett believes Green is a blown featherweight and that he will beat him physically when they go head to head.
