Jean Silva, who took a fight on short notice, gave a stunning performance at UFC Denver and won after inflicting a gruesome gash on Drew Dober’s eye. Brutal elbows by Silva caused the cut, giving a horror scene to the viewers. The injury was initially opened in the second round and grew with each blow until the physician at the ringside stopped the fight in the third round.
Silva and Dober displayed gruesome battle
Silva got the TKO victory due to the doctor’s stoppage in the third round at 1:28. Prior to the stoppage, Silva and Dober were engaged in a gruesome battle, exchanging powerful shots that could overwhelm anyone. Dober demonstrated his resilience as Jean’s sharp blows repeatedly hit him. Despite Dober’s efforts to land his combinations, Silva’s accuracy and speed kept him in control.
At the end of the second round, Silva landed a powerful spinning back elbow that made Dober shake on his feet. Although Dober had a chance to recover after the round, Silva became more dominant in the third round and landed another brutal elbow that lacerated Dober’s eye further. The doctor eventually decided to stop the fight.
After the fight, Dober stated that he had neanderthal eyebrows that cut so easily, but this is what it means to be a warrior. “I will fight anybody. This is what fighting’s all about. We throw hands and make war,” said Dober.
Dober was applauded by his hometown crowd
Despite the defeat, Dober got a warm ovation from his hometown crowd in Denver, who also applauded Silva’s stunning performance. Jean Silva’s win has become remarkable, as he stepped in on short notice after just knocking out Charles Jourdain at UFC 303 just two weeks ago. The win has further improved Silva’s record to 14-2, continuing his impressive 3-0 streak in the UFC. Both fighters earned an extra $50,000 for their back-and-forth war in the main event at UFC Denver.

This is Silva’s first Fight Night bonus, an achievement he missed out on after coming in overweight for his featherweight bout with Charles Jourdain two weeks ago. Although he scored a spectacular knockout against Jourdain, the weight issue disqualified him from earning a bonus. This time, Silva’s incredible performance was rewarded. On the other hand, Dober, who is well acquainted with bonus awards, won his fourth Fight of the Night and his eighth overall Fight Night award.
