UFC Featherweight champion Ilia Topuria is set to face Max Holloway at UFC 308 on October 26 at the Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi. The matchup has garnered plenty of attention; however, a notable thing that will be missing from this match is the BMF title. MMA fans thought that Topuria would be competing for the symbolic title, but the UFC has confirmed that the BMF title will not be at stake. Max Holloway won the BMF title at UFC 300 in April 2024 by knocking out Justin Gaethje.
Topuria boldly claims he will knockout Holloway
Ilia Topuria is undefeated in professional MMA and holds a 15-0 record. He has expressed immense confidence ahead of his UFC 308 bout and even predicted that he will be the first fighter to knockout “Blessed.”
Max Holloway has lost seven fights in his career till date but has never been knocked out. “There is no way I’m not going to knock him out. Every time I watch him fight, I think I’m way better than him,” said Topuria.
Max Holloway is a tough contender
The 32-year-old Max Holloway is coming off a big win that has further cemented his status in the MMA world. He captured the BMF title win with an outstanding knockout of Gaethje in the fifth round of the match, which was one of the most stunning finishes in UFC history. Holloway’s experience in the sport and flexibility make him a formidable challenger for Topuria in what is expected to be a blockbuster main event in Abu Dhabi. The UFC 308 card is packed with other notable matchups that include Robert Whittaker vs Khamzat Chimaev in a middleweight bout and Ciryl Gane will return to action against Alexander Volkav. This UFC pay-per-view is expected to be one of the highlights of this year’s MMA calendar.
