Udinese vs Monza: Preview
Udinese form analysis
Udinese’s recent form has shown impressive attacking potential but defensive issues leading to inconsistent results. On December 30th Udinese earned an emphatic 3-0 home win over Bologna led by Roberto Pereyra, Lorenzo Lucca and Matias Payero goals. However defensive problems surfaced on January 7th in a narrow 2-1 home loss to Lazio despite Walace equalizing. Udinese produced an entertaining 2-2 away draw at Fiorentina a week later thanks to goals from Sandi Lovrić and Florian Thauvin, though defensive mistakes cost them a win.
Defensive weaknesses emerged again on January 21st during an action-packed 3-2 home loss to AC Milan, as despite Lazar Samardžić and Thauvin strikes Udinese conceded three. Most recently on January 27th it was another disappointing result as Udinese fell 2-0 away to Atalanta. Defensive issues and concentration lapses have undermined their capacity to earn wins. Cutting out individual errors could help translate Udinese’s offensive talent into better overall form.
Monza form analysis
Monza’s recent form has shown a capacity for attacking production against weaker sides but significant struggles in both boxes against quality opposition. On December 29th, Monza earned an impressive point in a 0-0 away draw at title challengers Napoli. However, defensive issues emerged on January 6th, requiring three own goals in a chaotic 3-2 win away to Frosinone. Problems at both ends were badly exposed on January 14th as Monza were thrashed 5-1 at home by Inter Milan, despite Matteo Pessina’s consolation penalty.
Monza struggled again on January 21st away to relegation battlers Empoli, falling 3-0 in a match that highlighted offensive limitations against well-organized defenses. Most recently on January 28th, defensive solidity returned in a narrow 1-0 home win over Sassuolo with Andrea Colpani netting the winner. So while capable of attacking production against weaker sides, Monza have badly struggled against quality opponents at both ends of the pitch. Adding reinforcements in defense and midfield could help strengthen both boxes. Making Monza more competitive against Serie A’s elite teams.
