Udinese vs Fiorentina: Preview
Udinese form analysis
Le Zebrette began the season with a disappointing 3-0 loss away at Juventus, comprehensively outplayed. They responded well with a hard fought 1-1 draw away at Salernitana, taking the lead through Samardzic before being pegged back.
Udinese then ground out a 0-0 home draw against newly promoted Frosinone, keeping a vital clean sheet. Most recently, they earned another point on the road in a 0-0 draw at Cagliari.
Overall, Udinese have been fairly solid defensively after the Juventus thrashing, keeping two clean sheets in their last three games. However, scoring goals has been an issue, netting just once in four matches. Summer signing Samardzic has shown promise, but Udinese lack a cutting edge in attack.
If manager Andrea Sottil can get his team creating more chances, they have a good foundation to build on this season. But adding goals and becoming more dangerous in attack is crucial for Udinese to make a push up the table.
Fiorentina form analysis
Fiorentina made an impressive start by beating Genoa 4-1 away, playing some excellent attacking football. Bonaventura, González and Mandragora were all on the scoresheet in a dominant display. They followed up with a 2-2 home draw against Lecce though, giving up a two goal lead as defensive issues surfaced.
Fiorentina were then hammered 4-0 away at Inter, comprehensively outplayed by the champions in their biggest test yet. But they responded strongly by beating Atalanta 3-2 in an exciting game, with Bonaventura again on target along with Martinez and Kouame.
Overall, Fiorentina have showcased their attacking talents with 9 goals in 4 games. Bonaventura has emerged as a key player behind the front three. However, defensively they remain prone to lapses, which stronger teams have exploited. Bringing more solidity to the back line will be key as the season progresses. But with players like Gonzalez and Martinez, Fiorentina carry real danger in attack. If they can add greater consistency, they could push for a European place this term.
