The father of boxing champion Tyson Fury, John Fury, was seen in a violent altercation with a member of Oleksandr Usyk’s team during a media day in Saudi Arabia. Several videos have emerged online of John Fury bleeding after allegedly headbutting a member of Oleksandr Usyk’s team ahead of Tyson Fury’s fight. The incident comes just days before Saturday night’s highly anticipated undisputed heavyweight title between Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk.
The bout between the two boxing veterans is extremely important, as it will determine the first undisputed Heavyweight champion since 2000, with every major belt in the division at stake. Tyson Fury currently holds the WBC title, while Usyk holds the WBA, WBO and IBF straps. The fight, originally scheduled for February 17, was delayed after Tyson Fury suffered an injury just above his eye during sparring.

Despite this heated exchange in public, neither “The Gypsy King” nor the Ukrainian were directly involved in the controversy. However, this incident raises questions over its potential impact on the upcoming contest and whether any disciplinary action will be taken. John was seen shouting angrily at Oleksandr’s team and was restrained after headbutting one of them and being left bleeding himself.
It is expected that John will be banned from any press conferences or weigh-ins between the top-billed veterans on Saturday night. Until now, neither Tyson nor Oleksandr have commented on the incident.
