Toulouse vs RC Lens: Preview
Toulouse form analysis
Le Téfécé has struggled for consistency in their recent matches. They began with a narrow 1-0 defeat to Lorient, with the equalizer coming late in stoppage time. A few weeks later, they were soundly beaten 3-0 by Lyon. Lacazette scored three times for Lyon, including two goals in the first half hour, as Toulouse struggled to contain Lyon’s attack. They were then held to a 0-0 draw by Rennes, failing to score despite being at home.
Monaco then inflicted another defeat on Toulouse, with the visitors coming from behind to win 2-1 thanks to a brace from Ben Yedder, including a penalty. Most recently, Metz grabbed a 1-0 victory over Toulouse, with Sierro’s early penalty proving the difference. While Toulouse took the lead in their match with Monaco through Magri, they have only scored twice in their last five matches, failing to find the net in two games. Defensively, they have conceded eight goals over those five fixtures. On current form, Toulouse will need to shore up at both ends of the pitch as they battle relegation in Ligue 1 this season.
RC Lens form analysis
Lens have shown good resilience in their matches, though results have been mixed. They began with an impressive 3-2 comeback win over Lyon, erasing a two-goal deficit to win thanks to goals from Saïd, Frankowski, and Sotoca. A 0-0 draw with Montpellier followed, showing their defensive solidity. Lens then defeated Reims 2-0 at home, taking the lead through Saïd before Ó. Cortés sealed the win.
However, they were unable to break down a stubborn Nice defense, losing 2-0 with late goals from Moffi. Most recently, Lens fell to a 2-0 defeat against PSG. Lens have scored seven goals in their last five matches but conceded six times. Their defense has been reliable in shutouts over Montpellier and Reims but came unstuck against Lyon, Nice and PSG. With an ability to attack and keep clean sheets, Lens will hope to maintain their current mid-table position by tightening up at the back against top sides.
