Toulouse vs Le Havre: Preview
Toulouse form analysis
Toulouse’s recent run of form has showcased both their attacking potential but also vulnerabilities defensively. They started with a narrow 2-1 away loss to Lens despite going ahead through Gelabert early on. Building on this promising display, Toulouse secured an excellent 3-0 home win over Metz thanks to goals from Schmidt, Dallinga and Magri. However, defensive issues surfaced in a 1-1 home draw with Brest, taking the lead but conceding late to drop points.
This continued in their next game as they drew 1-1 at home with Reims, equalizing through Dallinga after going behind but unable to find a winner. Most recently, familiar problems struck in a heavy 0-3 away loss at Montpellier, totally outplayed after a bright start to the season. Overall, Toulouse has impressed in attack with the likes of Dallinga and Aboukhlal catching the eye.
Le Havre form analysis
Le Havre’s recent run of games against top flight opposition has shown they can make life difficult but lack the quality to cause real upsets. They started well, beating Clermont 2-1 at home thanks to goals from Alioui and Bayo. However, they came back down to earth with a 0-2 home loss to Lille, going behind either side of halftime and unable to respond. Things got even worse with a heavy 0-3 home defeat to Marseille, making errors at the back and offering little going forward.
There was a more stubborn display in holding Lens to a goalless home draw, defending stoutly throughout. Most recently they earned a gritty goalless away draw at Metz, showing solidity but again lacking attacking spark. Overall, Le Havre has been typically organized in these games but lacking talent in the final third. Stepping up a level has exposed their limitations, but they have made life tough for their top-flight opponents. Things should only get easier for the club as the season progresses through familiarity.
