Rohit surpassed Kapil Dev’s record of 100 runs off 72 balls registered against Zimbabwe in 1983. He broke that record which was intact for almost 40 days. Rohit Sharma’s record-breaking 131 runs innings helped him to break the record for fastest ton for India in ODI World Cups. Rohit Sharma did the unimaginable by bringing up his ton in just 63 balls against Afghanistan. By achieving this feat he surpassed Kapil Dev’s record of 72 balls 100 which he scored in the 1983 edition of the World Cup against Zimbabwe. Rohit Sharma adopted the T20I approach as in the initial overs he went with a cautious approach but once settled he openers his arms by smashing Fazalhaq Farooqui for a boundary. And after that, there was no stopping for the ‘hitman’ who brought up his fifty in just 30 balls & century in 63 balls.

Rohit On Wednesday registered his 31st ODI ton & with that, he overtook Australia’s great Ricky Pointing to occupy third place in the most centuries in the ODI format list. Only Kohli (47) and Tendulkar (49) stand above Rohit after the Delhi knock. Not only this, Rohit is so far the only captain to hit a century in the ongoing ODI World Cup 2023.

Rohit Sharma has also become the first Indian to score the most runs in the powerplay overs in ODI format.
