Since Tim David has touched MLC, it has only been full house fireworks. In the second match for Mumbai Indians New York (MINY), David was in a beast mode, striking the ball as clean as whistle all around the ground.
It was pretty much one sided affair where MINY registered an easy win over fragile looking Los Angeles Knight Riders who are yet to find a win in the first edition of Major League Cricket (MLC). In a serene evening at Grand Prairie Stadium, MINY’s skipper Kieron Pollard won the toss and elected to bat first.
Despite having a troublesome start, NI New York reached to the score of 155, all credit to big man Tim David who banged 4 massive sixes in his brief but match winning innings. He scored 48 off 21 balls when no other batter couldn’t even touch the strike rate of above 102.
I definitely enjoyed the second innings. The boys put up a fantastic bowling performance and the win helps us improve our NRR. My job is to finish the innings off. It is nice to get a few balls in the middle. We felt we left a few runs out there but it was a fantastic bowling performance, so we will take the two points.
LAKR faced a challenging target of 156 runs but struggled right from the outset, eventually being bowled out for a meager 50 runs in a mere 13.5 overs. The lone resistance came from Unmukt Chand, who scored 26 runs, but the rest of the batting lineup failed to make significant contributions.
The bowlers from MI New York proved exceptional, with Nosthush Kenjige, Trent Boult, Kagiso Rabada, Ehsan Adil, and Kieron Pollard each claiming two wickets. It was a slow wicket so bowling had to make the difference between win and loss.
MINY showcased a dominant performance with both the bat and ball, securing a comprehensive victory. David’s exceptional batting performance earned him the title of ‘Player of the Match,’ contributing significantly to his team’s success.
Following this win, MINY secured their first points in the tournament’s standings, while LAKR will be eager to regroup and make a strong comeback in the remaining matches.
