Just a few days ago, there were talks about Austin Theory’s disappointing stint as the WWE United States Champion, and fans wanted to see some development or a new champion. Well, it looks like WWE really cares about their fans, as WWE legend Rey Mysterio was forced to forfeit a title match against Austin Theory in Friday night’s Smackdown and ended up becoming the new United States Champion.
Austin injured his original challenger before the match
Austin Theory injured his challenger, Santos Escobar, to the extent that he couldn’t compete that night, after which WWE official Adam Pearce announced that Theory would defend his title against Mysterio. Kalya Braxton caught up with the new champion at SmackDown Lowdown, where Rey mentioned that he was filled with anger and frustration and was not focused on the result of the match. He also dedicated his win to LWO and mentioned that his US title belonged to the entire faction.

“Today was a roller-coaster ride from the moment I arrived until now. I was very angry, and when I went out and had a match with Austin, my anger and frustration took over. I really wasn’t thinking about the final consequences, which are these. But my team, LWO, this isn’t my title , it is our title”. Mysterio said in the interview
WWE legend talked about the former Champion
During the same interview, Mysterio also talked about the former Champion Austin Theory. He stated that it was the right time for Theory’s title to be truncated and win the championship. “When you have people like Austin Theory, which we all run across at some point in our lives, you have to put an end to that. I think tonight was the perfect night to end Austin Theory, and here are the results”. He concluded
