At one point, The Hardy Boyz were one of the most popular and biggest names in the WWE, but their last stint with the company was a bitter one for them. After making a steller return to WWE at WrestleMania 33, Jeff Hardy and Matt Hardy left the company one by one. While Matt left the company in 2020 as WWE showed less interest in pushing him up as a single superstar, Jeff Hardy also left by the end of 2021 for the same reason as Matt. The company wanted the three-time WWE champion to chase titles like the 24/7 championships. All of this definitely turned into rage and forced the “Rainbow Haired Warrior” to leave WWE on a bad note.
Both Jeff and Matt has shown interest in returning
But now, The Hardy Boyz have shown some interest in returning to the promotion, as they are both currently with TNA. There is currently a tie-up going on between WWE and TNA, as TNA superstars like Jordynne Grace and Joe Hendry have made appearances in WWE NXT. Recently, in an interview with Sportskeeda, Matt Hardy stated that he would like to win the WWE NXT title, as it is the only honor left that the two have not been able to achieve.
Matt said, “In wrestling never say never, and I will say that the NXT Tag Team titles are not on the list of titles we’ve won, so we’re interested in that.” Matt further stated that he thinks that the crossover between NXT and TNA is great and exciting, as it is positive for business and industry.
Jeff’s exit from the WWE was quite dramatic
Jeff may have had issues with WWE management, but he also showed interest in coming to WWE this time. Jeff stated that he is a fan of first-timers and the vision of him and Matt being in NXT seems exciting to him. Although the Hardy Boyz have given their consent to join WWE, it remains to be seen if the company’s CEO and COO will allow them or not. Jeff Hardy’s last appearance in the WWE was in 2022, after he was eliminated from a six-man tag team match at a live WWE event.
Right after giving the tag to his teammate, Drew McIntyre, Jeff climbed the railing and disappeared into the crowd. The next day, WWE released him from the contract. Now that Hardy Boyz shows a desire to return to WWE, it remains to be seen if Triple H allows them to or not.
