UFC viewers had a lot of laughs last Saturday during UFC Noche when professional boxer Terence Crawford was mistaken for Kendrick Lamar. While it was a funny moment for fans, Crawford recently shared his opinion on the mistake. According to “Hunter,” the UFC made this mistake on purpose because he didn’t understand how the promotion could up him and Kendrick when they look completely different.
Crawford about the hilarious mistake
During the interview with TMZ Sports, Crawford said he only found out about the glitch when people started messaging him about the incident that went viral. “I wasn’t in tune with the broadcast that had post me and called me Kendrick Lamar, so I’m not taking any notice of it and then I started seeing the pictures coming to my phone and everybody laughing like,’oh man, they got you messed up’, and then I just laughed a little bit… Honestly, I think it was done on purpose just for laughters because how can you mix us up?,” said Crawford.
This bizarre blunder also came to the notice of UFC CEO Dana White. Speaking on the incident, White accepted the fact that the broadcast team indeed made a mistake. However, White also laughedly said that Crawford has a slight resemblance to Kendrick Lamar. Meanchile, UFC at the Sphere was one of the spectacles in modern-day sports history. Held at the beautiful Sphere in Las Vegas, UFC Noche recorded the highest gate in the promotion’s history of $22 million.
UFC 306 saw two divisions getting new champions
Apart from the visual spectacle of the UFC sphere, the main and co-main events did not disappoint either. Facing off in a trilogy bout with the score tied at 1-1, Alexa Grasso and Valentina Shevchenko put on a stellar show for the crowd. Their second meeting ended in a controversial draw, which resulted in Grasso retaining her flyweight title. However, this time “Bullet” displayed brilliant grappling and dominated the fight over five rounds. Valentina regained her title and the crowd was quite happy.

Likewise, a new champion was crowned in the main event of the PPV as well. Merab Dvalishvili totally dominated Sean O’Malley and scored over 12 successful takedowns to his opponent. “The Machine” became the new UFC Bantamweight champion. Thus, UFC 306 emerged as one of the best sporting events in recent memory.
