Tenerife vs Las Palmas: Preview
Tenerife form analysis
Tete have had mixed fortunes recently, producing inconsistent league form either side of a thrilling extra time Copa del Rey win. They started this run with a dominant 3-0 away win over Eldense in the league on December 2nd thanks to goals from Ángel Rodríguez, Roberto López and Teto. Tenerife then needed extra time to see off Deportivo La Coruña 3-2 away in the Copa del Rey on December 6th, with late goals from substitutes Álvaro Romero and Sergio González securing a comeback win after letting a lead slip.
Tenerife returned to winning ways in the league by beating Alcorcón 1-0 at home on December 12th courtesy of Ángel Rodríguez’s strike before coming unstuck in a 3-1 loss away to Racing Ferrol on December 18th, despite Ángel briefly reducing the arrears. Most recently, Tenerife secured a solid 1-1 away draw against promotion chasing Leganés on December 21st as Teto’s opener was cancelled out late on by Sergio González. Overall, Tenerife have shown endeavour but a lack of consistency during this spell. Addressing defensive issues could aid their promotion push.
Las Palmas form analysis
Las Palmas have produced inconsistent La Liga form over this recent run of games. They started positively by beating struggling Getafe 2-0 at home on December 2nd courtesy of goals from J. Araujo and a Cristian Herrera stoppage time strike. Las Palmas backed that result up with an impressive 1-0 away win against Deportivo Alavés on December 9th thanks to Kirian Rodríguez’s 31st minute effort. However, Las Palmas then had to settle for a 1-1 home draw against Cádiz on December 17th, with Cádiz equalizing late on through Chris Ramos after Pejiño had given Las Palmas an early lead.
Las Palmas were unable to build momentum from that result as they suffered a frustrating 1-0 home loss to Athletic Bilbao on December 21st after conceding to a 90th minute Unai Gómez winner. Most recently on January 5th, Las Palmas produced a spirited display as they led Barcelona through Mounir El Haddadi before eventually succumbing to a 2-1 loss after late goals from Ferran Torres and an İlkay Gündogan penalty. Overall, Las Palmas have shown endeavour but must improve game management and see out leads better to aid their battle against relegation.
