Surrey has signed youngster Sai Sudarshan for the remaining three fixtures of the County Championship. His signing came on the back of his splendid performance in the IPL 2023 & the TNPL 2023. He has been picked for the final three fixtures of County Championship 2023 & will be an integral part of Sureey’s Playing XI. This si because some key players of the Surrey lineup are unavailable for the crucial fixtures & Sudarshan’s presence will provide them with a much-needed boost.
Sudarshan will join greats like Tom Latham, Will Jacks & Sam Curran who are a part of Surrey’s lineup. On the other hand, Ollie Pope has been ruled out of the final fixtures due to an injury. Notably, Sudarshan’s stint with Surrey will provide him the much-needed exposure to first-class cricket. The Chennai-based cricketer has played only eight first-class fixtures amassing 598 runs at an average of 42.71. He has shown splendid caliber in the Test format but needs to cope with foreign conditions.
Alec Stewart is happy with the signing of Sai Sudarshan
On the other hand, Alec Stewart has expressed his delight over the signing of Sudarshan. He said that the youngster would add depth to Surrey’s batting order & the team would heartily welcome him in the lineup.
Speaking about Sai Sudarshan signing, Stewart said that with a busy schedule of International & domestic cricket, they are happy to add Sudarshan to Surrey lineup. He further said that the recommendation of signing Sudarshan was given by people whom Stewart respects the most. These people include a couple of legendary players of the Indian team who have worked closely with Sai. Stewart further said that Sai Sudarshan’s presence will add more depth to their batting order for the crucial games. He also said that he would look forward to welcoming him to the team & their vibrant dressing room.
Meanwhile, Sudarshan will be available for Surrey’s upcoming clash against Worcestershire. They are currently on the top of the Division 1 table with Essex being placed at No 2. Hence, the goal will be to keep up with the momentum and get the job done in the upcoming three matches to bag the prestigious trophy.
