Sunil Gavaskar, a legendary member of the Indian cricket team, showered Rohit Sharma with admiration after the veteran batsman hammered an outstanding century to lead his team to victory against Afghanistan in the Cricket World Cup 2023 on Wednesday. While Rohit struggled to make a huge impact against Australia in the tournament opener, the India captain was in great form against Afghanistan, scoring 131 runs off only 84 deliveries. According to Gavaskar’s statement to Star Sports, “Rohit missed out on a lot of hundreds, but I’m glad he got a hundred. He is a risk-taker around him. Only a select few hitters can pull off the front foot as he can. Viru was comparable to Virender Sehwag in the same way. Opening hitter strikes out hard and scores 60s, 70s, and 80s.”
